EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PLYMOUTH PUNX PICNIC, THE ODD BALL, DJs McCANN & WHEELIE'S CLUB NITES, BUS STATION LOONIES GIGS and HARAKIRI KARAOKE ENGAGEMENTS, BUT COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO ASK...

Updated 7th December 2005

Next year, Plymouth plays host to it's 10th annual Punx Picnic, courtesy of "Sweary" Mark McCann, Tara & Spud, "Barbie's Dead" Alex, S Punk Dave, Bea, Backbone, and a few others, now Chris Wheelie has gone into semi-retirement (and semi-consiousness), following the last 9 gloriously bleary years.

More of that when I knows what's a-going on... Meanwhile....

THIS SATURDAY (10th Dec) sees the return of the all-new, unimproved, risen-from-the-ashes-of-MDC-punk-nites "Punk Nite" with DJs "Sweary" McCann and "Wooly Willy" Wheelie. From 10pm 'til 2am and, for a mere 2 quid, you can get-on-down to avant garde vibes from the alternative sounds of Killing Joke, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, The Filaments, The Hives, Angelic Upstarts, Specials, Citizen Fish, Subhumans, System of a Down,  The Pixies, Crass, Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, Ian Dury, Rammstein, New Model Army, The Cramps, Undertones, Cardiacs, UK Subs, Foo Fighters, Dickies, Iggy Pop, NoFX, No Comply, NoMeansNo, No Choice, No For An Answer and Yeah Yeah Noh... At Tramps (in Plymouth's Bretonside Bus Station... place with flashy lights, right next to the coach ticket office).

THIS MONDAY (12th Dec) sees the monthly foray into all things DIY, amateur, stand-up and fall-over; from Party Piece to Polished Performance. It's time to entertain all with acoustic-strumming, poi-swinging, joke-telling, disc-jockeying, film-showing, exotic-dancing, poetry-ranting, acrobatic-flipping, magic-making at "THE ODD BALL". Open to all, this month boasts acts including THE BLACK FRIDAY DUO, ACKERS and UGS, LOCI, VIC RICHARDS, CHRIS LAMBIE-PIE, AWFULCHESTRA and the ubiquitous HARAKIRI KARAOKE. 3 pounds will get you passed the geek at the door, where a friendly, informal and happy atmosphere awaits. For further information and to plonk your name down as a future act, please prod

SUNDAY 18th DECEMBER sees the one-and-only Xmas "show" from THE BUS STATION LOONIES. Yep, they're still (barely) alive and will be playing at The Nowhere Inn, Gilwell Street, Greenbank, Plymouth. Around 8.30pm. Entry is free as support comes from HARAKIRI KARAOKE...
